The Heart of Christ

Oh how can words express the heart of Christ?
The heart of One so full of grace and love.
The Lovely One, He died, yes…. sacrificed,
He came for us, willing…. then disposed of.

The Christ, gentle and meek, as He sure was,
Bearing the weight of all our sin and shame.
But why, for what reason? What was the cause?
To seek and save, His heart was set aflame.

Jesus pleased God on that most dreadful cross,
Smitten by God, this was the Father’s plan.
Christ went through hell, darkness…. our gain, His loss,
For us He bled, the King, He bled….. God-man.

Oh how can words express the heart of Christ?
He freely chose, He chose to pay the price.

No Greater Gift

God, Religion, Cross, Christianity, Religious

No greater gift, The Father gave His Son,
A precious gift which cannot be replaced.
The Lamb’s victory at the cross was won,
Christ in our place, yes, completely disgraced.

The Christ, not us, suffering God’s great wrath,
Why did Jesus die, and not us who sinned?
Why is such mean cruelty His chosen path,
The One who healed, who loved, who calmed the wind?

In our place, yes, His blood for us was shed,
He drank the dreaded cup, He drank it all.
The Son of Man, of God, life-giving Bread,
The Father’s cup….. full! Oh the bitter gall!

Go look and see, go look at Calvary!
That cross, what love! Go now! Do not tarry!

Reflecting on the World to Come

Heaven, Clouds, Sunset, Cloudscape, Atmosphere, Sunrise

Reflecting on a world………

With no bitterness, no hatred, no envy, no anger, no violence and no strife,
No racism, no lust or evil desires, all of it absent in this most blessed afterlife.
Where we perfectly love and honor one another, with perfect peace in our midst,
Where reckless suspicions and false assumptions cannot, and will not, ever exist.

A world where everyone will honor each other with perfect kindness and love,
A love undiluted, untainted, no deception or pretense; all sin completely disposed of.
A love propelled forth by the Holy Spirit, with all affection centered on Jesus Christ,
The God-man, who reigns forever; He has earned Heaven for us, by His infinite sacrifice.

A world we do not deserve because of our great sin, and the evils of our own heart,
But Jesus Christ has finished the race for us, a race that we could never even start.
So, dear Christian, reflect often on the heavenly world to come, every day you awaken,
The promise of eternal life is all through the Word of God, and He is never mistaken.

A world with no desire to hurt or punish, or to even see another person suffer in pain,
With no Satan to tempt us, with no evil from within or without, nothing at all profane.
Where the glory of God will dominate the scene, with praises forevermore shouting,
As our faith will then become sight; we will see His shining face, the end of all doubting.

A glorious world where the unbelieving will not be, where the unrepentant sinner has no place, for this is a glorious place, where only Christians will dwell.

But…..

There is another world, a place of God’s eternal wrath, a place of judgment for those who reject the gospel, an indescribably horrific place the Bible calls hell.

So, if you are reading this and wonder…..

How do I escape God’s wrath and enter this glorious world? This world of no pain or suffering, full of love, joy, and peace, the place where God dwells, this perfect place of righteousness you speak of, this glorious world where there is no sin or vice?!

My dear friend, you escape God’s wrath only one way……..

Repent and believe in Jesus Christ, the King of kings and the Lord of lords! The One who shed His blood on the cross for sinners, who died and was buried, and who rose again on the third day! Then, and only then, will you be forgiven, and be assured of paradise!!

Christ Over and Above All

Jesus Christ is over and above all kings, nations, angels, rulers and powers,
He is above Satan and all of his demons; in fear of Christ they quickly cower.
And while many false gods claim to be His equal, He will never share His glory,
He is transcendent over all, nothing like us; He’s in a totally different category.

Jesus Christ is LORD, seated on His throne, governing every moment that passes,
Sovereign over every molecule, every particle; all liquids, solids, and gases.
Nothing catches Him off guard, and nothing will ever thwart His perfect plans,
No happening can take Him by surprise, for the world is completely is His hands.

Christ upholds all the galaxies, is governed by none, and seeks no one’s advice,
He is the God-man, and those who reject His claims will pay the ultimate price.
Seek His wisdom daily, for He never doubts, never fails, and never second guesses,
If you are in Christ, He has taken away your shame and sin; your life He truly blesses.

None should occupy our hearts the way that Jesus does, for He alone is worthy over all,
And this One who is altogether worthy, He came down to earth to rescue us from the fall.
Our KING, all-powerful, worthy of our trust, infinite in holiness, wisdom, love, and every other attribute,
He came and bled and died on the cross; the One to Whom all knees will bow, and whose rule is absolute.

This King’s Precious Love

love-699480__340

The love of this King defies human understanding,
A love that can capture the most rebellious heart,
A precious love that is holy, unstained, and undefiled,
A perfect love to clean us up, and give us a new start.

Love that is beyond measure; how can we resist it?
None can compare, for His love is true and faithful,
A love found only in Jesus; none else can give this love,
It is far greater than the love Jacob had for dear Rachel.

Love not to be trifled with, love that must be treasured,
Jesus gave His body and spilled His blood, all for our sin,
Place your faith in this King; do not reject His infinite love,
A love that died for guilty sinners, who are defiled within.

What could make this King love so freely, and give so much?
Nothing about us, but because of Him. He is love- from eternity past,
His love has no beginning and has no end, it cannot be contained,
Christian, rejoice! This King loves you! Why are you so downcast?

And for those of you who don’t love this King, I urge you to repent,
For this King suffered unspeakably; He was slandered and harassed,
His love brought Him to a Roman cross, where He laid down His life,
Do not reject this King’s love, for you will see Him at the final trumpet blast!

For those of you who worship this King, His love for you will never end,
We will bask in His love forevermore, on the New Heaven and New Earth,
Forever gazing on the glorious face of Jesus, while in wonder of His love,
Praising Him with all the angels and saints, relishing His surpassing worth.

Shout It From the Rooftops

loudspeaker-1459128__340

Go ahead! Shout this glorious gospel, shout it from the rooftops,
The only message to bring us peace with God, shout it out loud!
This is peace that we do not deserve, but peace that God gives us,
Shout it to all peoples everywhere, one by one, even into a crowd.

Shout the glorious Name of Jesus, whose Word is sharper than a knife,
The One who gave His life for us, dying a bloody death upon the cross,
Let all the people know that Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life,
The One who forgives and sanctifies us; He consumes all of our dross.

Shout the precious Name of our Lord and Redeemer, He who lives forever,
Who has commissioned us to share His gospel, to speak the truth in love,
Shout the message of the cross, boldly and proudly, whenever and wherever,
For this is not a message of human origin, the gospel comes from God above.

Let us preach with joy! Let’s not be shy, let’s not be disobedient, let’s not be selfish,
And let’s not be cowards, God is with us; The gospel has power! Let the Word thunder!
Ask Him to make us fearless ambassadors; Let that be our prayer, our godly wish,
That we, the bride of Christ, would speak with joy and conviction, all of God’s wonders!

Stay On The Narrow Road

road-1246601_960_720

There are two roads: one is narrow, one is broad,
We read of this truth in the infallible Word of God.
Walk carefully with Jesus Christ, and do not stray,
Stay on the narrow road, love Him all of your days.

The broad road will destroy you, taking you to hell,
It promises pleasure and joy, and popularity as well.
This road can make life easy, everyone may like you,
Some who are on this road even sit weekly in a pew.

Stay on the narrow road, leading to our everlasting rest,
Clinging to Jesus, not veering to the right or to the left.
The enemy roars loudly, trying to pull you into his path,
A path that leads to destruction, and God’s eternal wrath.

But the path of Jesus is the path of joy and everlasting life,
He forgives and reconciles you to God; there is no more strife.
He does this for all who believe in His Name, The great I AM,
the High and Holy One,
Who atoned for our sins, while hanging on that cross; Amen!
Finished! Yes, it is done!

We Hated Him, He Loved Us

john-3-16-3700544_960_720

Before we were born again, we did not love but only hated God,
Refusing to repent, we pursued our lust and were God’s enemy,
Having no hope, drinking in sin like water and wickedly flawed,
We needed rescued from our sin, yes indeed; we needed a remedy.

How can this be? How can God show such love to the wicked?
How can we make sense of such love? How can we understand?
Even though it is impossible to grasp, we ought to feel convicted,
That God has so loved us; He sent Christ, who sits at His right hand.

We should be in awe of His mercy, amazed at His infinite grace,
As we are longer slaves to selfishness and sin, we now love Him,
All because He first loved us, now our sin is gone without a trace,
So keep your eyes on Jesus; one day you will see His glorious face!

Mortify the Fear of Man!

FEAR

The fear of man lays a snare, the Holy Scripture makes this clear,
It tears us apart on the inside, when our sinful emotions domineer.
We look within to try to control the mayhem, but this never works,
We must fear only the Christ, to expel the sinful dread that lurks.

Scripture tells us to fear the One who can cast our body and soul into hell,
To fear Jesus Christ, who can save and destroy; look to Him and you do well.
But to fear man is wicked and debased, for in doing so we betray our King,
Who has pledged to shelter and protect us; we take refuge under His wings.

Do not fear man who perishes, man who is mortal, man who is from the dust,
Store up treasure in heaven, where Christ is; all else will be destroyed by rust.
You must fear Jesus Christ and make Him your supreme treasure, the One who died and rose again for us,
And regarding that devilish old snare, the fear of man? Don’t even entertain it. Don’t make such a fuss!

Mortify the fear of man! Mortify it today! Look to Jesus and think of His sovereign power,
Oh dear Christian! He says to “fear not!”; Don’t you know?! Man fades away like a flower.
So trust God when He says to “fear not!”, and remember His amazing, infinite love for you;
And expel that old snare, by keeping your eyes on Him, the One who is both Faithful and True.

That Bitter Cup Jesus Drank

NEW WINE

Jesus drank that bitter cup, the cup of the Father’s wrath,
He drank it for sinners like us, for it was His chosen path.
Every last drop of Heaven’s fury absorbed, He took it head on,
To glorify God, to forgive and restore us, our sin now is gone.

Jesus drank every last drop, He was spared nothing at all,
Suffering for every believer, corrupted by Adam’s great fall.
God’s infinite anger toward His enemies, laid on the Christ,
Jesus cried out “My God! My God!”, He paid the ultimate price.

Jesus drank that dreaded cup, the cup that you and I deserve,
He did it for love of the ungodly, the rebels He came to serve,
He brought us escape from death, saving us from the lake of fire,
By giving us Himself, the One whom everyone ought to desire.

Jesus drank it all, the cup that made Him pray, “Father, let this be taken!”
But He came to do God’s will; this foreknown plan would never be shaken.
He cried “Why have you forsaken Me?”, while on the cross bearing our sin,
He stood in our place, bled and died our punishment; then He rose again!
